about me

My name is Rebecca Paden and I am from Little Rock, Arkansas, but currently, I’m in my junior year at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. I am majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Multimedia Journalism and minoring in Graphic Design and Criminal Justice. I am a current member of Ouachita Baptist University’s Women of EEE social club. I am also a currently a reporter for the Ouachita News Show where I get to report on stories on campus and in the city of Arkadelphia. If I had to describe myself in three words, I would say: creative, passionate and dependable. I am passionate about storytelling and believe that everyone has a story to tell and I want to be the person to help make that happen. I am currently a Red-cross certified lifeguard and have been since 2021. Lifeguarding has helped me grow in my communication skills and grow in my confidence in teamwork and leadership. During that time, I have worked as a lifeguard, babysitter and house/dog sitter. Some of my hobbies include: traveling, crafts, reading, enjoying time outside/hiking, singing and shopping.

In summer of 2025, I had the opportunity to participate in the European Study tour through Ouachita where I traveled to Italy, France and London in the span of a couple weeks. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life where I learned a lot and where some of my biggest dreams come true. It was amazing to see so many different beautiful cultures and significant historical sites. Europe is filled with good food, beautiful languages and cultures and beautiful sites. About a month ago, I joined the Ouachita Communications department in New York at the CMA conference when I got to hear from accomplished individuals in the Communications field while having the opportunity to explore such an amazing city. My favorite part of traveling is seeing all of the different cultures and sites. Life is vastly different in these places I’ve traveled and what an honor it is to be able to experience that.

The most important thing in my life is Jesus. I have grown up in a Christian environment, going to church and private school, but recently I have found a true relationship with the Lord. He has blessed me with amazing friends and family. I am so grateful for everything He has done in my life and I can’t wait to see what He does next. My favorite verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
